#1: So, on my theme of being a 15 year old girl, this song makes me smile:
#2: Phish with Alison Kraus is really delightful. Something I didn't know- Jonathan Frakes plays trumpet on the "Hoist" album.
#3: I've been having a hard time figuring out why I like Dashboard Confessional's first four albums so much and his last two less so. Tonight I have figured it out. There is just less injury. "If You Can't Leave It Be" is a pretty great example of the urgency that was around in those earlier albums.
Sodastream is a guitar player and cello player from Australia. I have their album "The Hill For Company." I saw them opening for Saturday Looks Good to Me in an Ann Arbor, Michigan basement several years ago. Today I listened to "A Drum" and it is just an incredibly beautiful song. The vocals for this duo are just really wonderful. I couldn't find anything good to embed, but the link above sends you to their discography page and has lots of tracks that you can listen to.
In the same vein of kinda mellow songs, I got to Dashboard Confessional's "Dusk and Summer." I have a pretty strong love for Dashboard. His "So Impossible" EP's is one of my favorite song cycles.
Started the "E's" today with R.E.M.'s "E-Bow The Letter." I think I talked about R.E.M. yesterday, so I'll give it a rest for a minute.
Apparently bands were really into E songs with hyphens, because I also heard Beck's E-Pro. Who doesn't love a little bit of Beck on a Thursday?
Finally, I heard Iron and Wine's "Each Coming Night." Samuel Beam makes some really beautiful music, and this is a really good example of what he does. I think a lot of people would recognize he cover of "Such Great Heights" that was on the Garden State soundtrack.
Today I made some good progress on running down songs on my ipod. I got through all of the "Agains" and the "Afters."
Some thoughts: I listened to three versions of Again I Go Unnoticed by Dashboard Confessional. My favorite is from "The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most" EP. It just pushes a little bit harder than the other two versions.
Listening to Aeroplane Blues, I wonder if it is in any way connected to Neutral Milk Hotel's "Aeroplane Over The Sea"? If it is, I am not quite sure how.
I really do love "Age Six Racer." It always reminds me of the very beginning of Fall when Summer is fading away. I have always been and still am a Summer kid. I live for it. Listening to the song right now, as it is freezing cold outside makes me wish that it was once again the kind of nice outside that draws you out and makes you want to walk around outside and have adventures. Oh well. Here's a version of a song that some kid attached a homemade video to.
