Project 2010: Day 4, Planes, Trains, and Trains

One of the random things that will make me like a song is if the music or the singer sounds like some sort of a train. Or a plane. The song that once again reminded me of that is "Airline To Heaven" which is off of the second Mermaid Avenue album by Wilco and Billy Bragg, which starts with drums and and guitar playing that sounds like a train. The sounds of a train just push the song forward in a really positive way. Actually for the first few seconds I thought it might be "Bowl Of Oranges" by Bright Eyes, which I also love, although in this version the train sound is a little bit more muffled.

Phish's "Scent Of A Mule" sounds as if a train is bearing down right on you, in my mind (no idea where these images are coming from...).

Of course, right after "Arline To Heaven" the Indigo Girls' "Airplane came on where they sing as if they were taking off. Again, I love it. So, that is my endorsement of the day: songs that sound like big transportation vehicles. Here's a list of what I listened to today:

  1. Ah, very cool subject matter! I also like "vehicle sounding" music, though, unfortunately, as of late, most is children's music with trucks going "beep-beep-vroom!" Sigh.

Who would have guessed a fellow Phish head!
Also I'm digging your A-list so far. What a great mix of bands and singers. I want to go find my Rusted Root and Lily Allen now.
Thank you for the great music and all of the listening inspiration!

  2. Glad you're enjoying! And of course I'm a Phish head! Saw them three times this year (which I know in the scheme of things is nothing- but still!).
